GATE & SAS
Clover Avenue Elementary school has been designated as a School for Advanced Studies since 2002. SAS programs serve as District demonstration sites for innovative and research-based differentiated curriculum and instruction for gifted/high ability learners in multiple categories. Clover's SAS program has a proven commitment and ability to offer a sustained, highly effective, exemplary Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) program that includes the following essential components:

Providing opportunities for SAS students to develop 21st century competencies

Ensuring that teachers receive a minimum of 16 hours of GATE-specific professional development annually

Meaningfully engaging families within the SAS program
Students from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, who reside within the LAUSD boundaries, may apply to attend Clover on a SAS permit. Permits are accepted based on space availability and the applicant meeting the district stated SAS criteria.
The SAS permit is intended for K-5th grade students who are identified gifted by LAUSD or demonstrate the ability to work above grade level, think critically, and problem solve. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria set by the District.

ON-TIME APPLICANTS:

On-time application window is posted on the LAUSD Unified Enrollment website.

Verification of eligibility must be submitted on time.

Acceptance and waitlists are generated by a computerized lottery system.

Acceptance priority is given to siblings for same school of choice.

LATE APPLICANTS:

Late application window opens Feb. 1st.

Students are added to the late waitlist as received via Unified Enrollment.

Eligibility verification will be completed by the school of acceptance, if and when the student is accepted to the school.

Sibling priority is not given for late applicants.

Schools are not permitted to give out waitlist numbers to parents.

As space permits, families will be called from the waitlist starting in May and continuing into August.
