Clover Avenue Elementary school has been designated as a School for Advanced Studies since 2002.  SAS programs serve as District demonstration sites for innovative and research-based differentiated curriculum and instruction for gifted/high ability learners in multiple categories. Clover's SAS program has a proven commitment and ability to offer a sustained, highly effective, exemplary Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) program that includes the following essential components:

  • Providing opportunities for SAS students to develop 21st century competencies

  • Ensuring that teachers receive a minimum of 16 hours of GATE-specific professional development annually

  • Meaningfully engaging families within the SAS program

Students from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, who reside within the LAUSD boundaries, may apply to attend Clover on a SAS permit. Permits are accepted based on space availability and the applicant meeting the district stated SAS criteria.
