AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

STAR After School Enrichment

The STAR Program offers two different after school programs. One is called STAR Galaxy, and the other is called STAR Nova. Please check out the Clover STAR Website for more information by clicking STAR registration link.

STAR Galaxy offers a daily dose of scheduled classes from the end of the school day until 6 PM. Students rotate through group tutoring, a homework lab, sports / fitness / recreation, and enrichment classes. Our programs stress the importance of team-building, leadership skills, community projects and creative expression. By stimulating both their creative and critical thinking skills, STAR helps students discover their passions and places them on a college-bound track.

STAR Nova offers enrichment programs with classes that take place once a week, which are offered Monday through Friday. This allows for a more individualized experience tailored to the specific needs and interests of each student. The wide range of Nova classes includes such offerings as Theater, Basket Ball, Chess, Dance, Lego© Robotics, Clay Studio, Science Lab, and more!

Beyond the Bell Youth Services at Clover Playground

The playground is open to all students in grades 2nd-5th. However, activities and supervision are geared more toward children in upper grade levels.  The playground is open from the end of the school day to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Students are provided with an opportunity to do homework, although they must work on their own. There is lots of free play time, including sports, recreation, games and snacks. Organized games and activities vary during each week and include team sports. During the winter months after dark, students are brought into the school auditorium, where they can play games or watch videos.  If your child is going to be on the playground, you will need to complete an emergency card and return it to the playground supervisor. The program is free (no cost) to all Clover 2nd-5th grade students. The application form needs to be renewed every year.  If enrolling, please complete the PDF application in the link below and turn it in to Clover Main Office.

Children's Music Program

The after school music program is open to all students in grades 1st - 5th.  The program is directed by Larry Newman and the classes are taught by the outstanding faculty of the Children's Music Workshop.

The Music Program Information Session takes place early September before the program starts.  This is when faculty members of the Children's Music Workshop play instruments in the auditorium and the children walk through to see the instruments.

Instruction is provided every Monday that school is in session from early September through the school year, culminating with a school concert in May.

1st graders may choose the violin or piano/keyboard. 2nd-5th graders may choose violin, piano/keyboard, ukulele, flute, clarinet, trumpet, or mini trombone. 4th and 5th graders also have the opportunity to learn saxophone.  Small group classes will be scheduled every 30-40 minutes on Mondays after school from 2:45-4:45 PM.  Students who play violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet or trombone may be eligible to participate in the All Schools Elementary Honor Orchestra at UCLA.
