Children's Music Program

The after school music program is open to all students in grades 1st - 5th.  The program is directed by Larry Newman and the classes are taught by the outstanding faculty of the Children's Music Workshop.

The Music Program Information Session takes place early September before the program starts.  This is when faculty members of the Children's Music Workshop play instruments in the auditorium and the children walk through to see the instruments.

Instruction is provided every Monday that school is in session from early September through the school year, culminating with a school concert in May.

1st graders may choose the violin or piano/keyboard. 2nd-5th graders may choose violin, piano/keyboard, ukulele, flute, clarinet, trumpet, or mini trombone. 4th and 5th graders also have the opportunity to learn saxophone.  Small group classes will be scheduled every 30-40 minutes on Mondays after school from 2:45-4:45 PM.  Students who play violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet or trombone may be eligible to participate in the All Schools Elementary Honor Orchestra at UCLA.
